Urge to kill rising…

Has anyone had to take a “technology” class for their undergraduate or graduate program? I’m currently sitting in one for my Special Education masters program, and I’m being taught WHAT THE FUCK WIKIPEDIA is. And only another hour to go…

I needed to vent. That is all.

P.S. I wish a horrid death on the people in my class, for I know more than my professor when it comes remotely close to anything having to do with computers, and the students actually don’t know these things. (I promise this won’t do bad things to you…or your computer)

I was reading Penny Arcade today, and Tycho brought up quite a good point in his blog about the re-release of the Divine Comedy with artwork from the game. He states that “Maybe it isn’t entirely forthright, putting a crusader badass on the cover of your medieval allegory – but I don’t care. In fact, I support this kind of thing wholeheartedly: fact is, sometimes you got to lie to a motherfucker. If showing a dude holding a giant spine with an aftermarket scythe affixed is what it takes to get young men to read a single page of the classics, than so be it.”

And after thinking about it for a couple minutes, I couldn’t agree more. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a gamer today that has the pleasure of reading the classic literature of old. Though it still irks me to see Dante portrayed as a scythe-wielding juice head, rather than a cripple old man, I now can see the possibilities for classical literature and the modern gamer. Especially if it’s done right:

Darksiders 2
By: Christopher Matulich | January 11th, 2010

Just finished Darksiders – loved every second of it. But I’m not going to get into a whole long winded spiel about my favorite parts, or what they could have done better. If you haven’t beaten it yet, you may want to refrain from reading the rest, but I will be as spoiler-less as I can be.

The end of the game opens up a possibility that I’ve had in the back of my mind since the good ol’ days of the first Devil May Cry. With the release of the other three horseman at the end, is Vigil preparing for what should have happened a long time ago? That is, a co-op Devil May Cry-style game? The ending really does leave this open, and it would be a great foray for a follow-up sophomore or junior title. A two or four player Darksiders would really be an amazing experience, as long as it was done in the same vein. Crazier puzzles that require 2 or 4 people? Bigger, badder bosses? Competition? VERSUS MODE?! SIGN ME THE FUCK UP.

Sorry, got a little carried away. But I’m sure Chris Carter feels the same way.

EDIT: I do know that Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 was co-op, but only for a few missions and you had to beat it first. Wasn’t exactly in the mood to play it again after having completing it on the 360.

Me Likey

Just read in my Google Reader that Blaster Master is coming to the VC. I haven’t thought about this gem since I was sitting on the couch playing it. What a remarkable game for its time; a superb combination of Metroid and Mario. Can someone please get started on a DS remake of this beautiful, inorganic being?

And the music….simply outstanding.
